It's possible to do most common computer tasks without spending a fortune on software! Below is a selection of software for those of you on a budget:
- Office software:
- Open office - Free alternative to Microsoft Office. Can also read and write Microsoft Office documents.
- Microsoft Office Viewers - Been sent a Microsoft Office document that you need to view? Microsoft provides free viewing software for downloading.
- Antivirus software:
- AVG - Free antivirus for home use.
- Ad Aware - The personal version is free. Useful for tracing and removing some of the 'junk' installed on your system without your permission!
- Other software:
- Firefox web browser - That trusty and reliable alternative to Internet Explorer!
- Thunderbird - A great alternative to using Outlook or Outlook Express for your email.
- Sea Monkey - An extremely useful application, that is ideal for viewing and editing your web pages.
- Gimp - The Gnu Image Manipulation Program. An extremely powerful (and free) graphics program.
- FileZilla - A superb ftp client for uploading your web pages to your server.
