Guess what?.....There are huge numbers of people that are much, much worse off than we are. Another Mouse helps a few of them, but has decided to make a concious effort on a yearly basis to raise money for a suitable charity. This year, we have chosen to sponsor Sense International which is a charity for people with visual and hearing impairment. We encourage you to have a look around their website. This was partly due to us providing support to a small number of individuals with visual impairments in the Cambridge area.
We decided that it was a great idea if one of us did the London Marathon this year, and being that Peter looked reasonably fit, we nominated him. In a fit of insanity (after we had plied him with alcohol) he accepted! (A mere 26 miles?...How hard can it be?) He now needs a huge amount of sponsorship in order to convince him that his weekly pain and suffering out running is worth while.......which is where you come in!
As you are aware Peter Edmond is your webmaster, and spends time just lurking around your site and periodically fixing problems, providing assistance, and the odd password recovery job for you. He also did all of the 'technical' bits such the installation and configuration of board scripts and homesteads. The boards themselves have now survived over 500,000 (1/2 million messages), which is a credit to the 'robustness' of the code. That enabled you to move from a fairly poorly performing hosted board which reponded slowly, and was cluttered with ads, to your current site. Peter also continues to assist when required, without any cost to the Stableminds community.
